DESCRIPTION

This blog emerged out of our common concern with the erosion of civil rights in the U.S. and Russia. John Staples studies 19th century Russia; his many trips to Russia and Ukraine have left him shocked and saddened by the condition of 21st century Russian society. Jennifer Hildebrand studies African American history; she is interested in the way that identity and perceived identity relate to the rights accorded to individuals in the United States. This blog contains our personal reflections and in no way reflects the opinions of the SUNY Fredonia History Dept. or any other organization.
